Re: refitting carbs
I find a tiny smear of silicone grease on the inside of the rubbers helps them slip on much easier.
(Just realised how that sounds, ooh matron )

Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

Hi Julian.
The best way of refitting the carbs to the engine block is to warm the inlet rubbers, either with an hair dryer or hot air gun, don't get too close suck it and see so to speak!. Or you warm them with boiling water make sure the water can't enter the engine... Also make sure the hose clips are fully lose and pushed fully forward. Do likewise with the air box, although they can be more problematic if they are warped with age, here I tend to use a couple of drops of super glue in the worst cases then tightening the clips one at a time, then bolt up the air box after.
I've done a few over the years for my customers this way and I find it's the best.
No disrespect to what anyone else may say.

Re: refitting carbs
Dam presumptive spelling changed "drops" to days, pre super glue.

I thought you meant the slow setting stuff.

Smear of silicon grease, get astride her, give them a wiggle and you should find they'll slip in from behind a treat

Hi John, if you click on the "pencil" icon above your post, you'll be able to change "days" to "drops", or edit anything else you want to alter, before or after submitting your post, like I did with that tyre size
