Hello All
I recently purchased a 1976 GT750 with what the previous owner admitted come with a slight oil leak. Two weeks sitting in the garage identified something more than a slight weap. After cleaning the underside of the engine, it became clear the oil was coming from a drain hole located under the water pump cover. This oil is fresh gearbox oil, containing no water. The water drained from the radiator contained no signs of oil. It would appear that an oil seal within the water pump has failed. The drain hole is M5 threaded. My idea is to insert a grub screw to stem the flow of oil, as I currently have no wish to remove the engine. While oil and water continue to remain separated, I cannot see my idea causing any long term damage? Can those with more knowledge of this engine provide me with guidance?
Thanks
Tony
