More problem with GT 750

Post by DaveT »

Hello
I had trouble with my 1974L starting..........spark is good, timing spot on so it must be the fuel.
Rather than re-building the fuel tap I bought a new one.......installed it correctly, connected all the hoses (including vacuum pipe) turned the fuel tap to 'Prime' left it for 20 minutes and still the bike will not start.

Most worringly is there is no smell of petrol on the plugs, any advise gratefully accepted.

Take the plugs out and put some fuel in the cylinders, see if it fires and runs for a short time,if it does your floats have stuck or the needle valves have gummed up closed,

+1 on the above. How old is the petrol? If its very old you will need to drain tank and carb float bowls as just adding fresh fuel on top of old will not improve the situation.
It could be the choke is not opening/seized shut or clogged pilot jets.

Is this a bike you've had running recently? Or a new find/purchase?
