Need help identifying mystery part

Post by EvansWard »

Found this strange part in the bottom of my drain pan after draining gear oil on my GT750A. It could have also come from inside engine covers as I replaced both sides of my engine covers. I also replaced the water pump and had all 4 exhaust pipes off. Also, I accidentally removed that plug on bottom of case with spring in it too thinking it was the gear oil drain plug but replaced it. Holding off on filling new gear oil and coolant until this part can be identified. Please help if you can- thanks!

Thanks Barney! Yes, did a search on neutral detent plunger over at Sundial and found out all about it. Looks like I'm not the first to mistakenly remove it thinking it was the gear oil drain plug! I'm chalking it up to a GT750 ownership rite of passage. :P

Now, I can reinstall the detent spring and plug correctly and fill with fluids. Something told me to wait on refilling oil/ fluid until I could be advised on where this part came from!
