Starter motor seal

Post by klektermaniac »

Hello All,
Suzuki GT750J.
I am after the internal oil seal for the starter motor Suzuki part number 31153-31010 which is now discontinued.
Does anyone know the size of this seal? I would think I can obtain one from a seal/bearing stockist but do not want to remove mine and damage it just in case I cant!

Hello Kev,
Thanks but unfortunately that is not the one. I have already ordered this one from them, but I need the INTERNAL oil seal (not the exterior o-ring)

Hello,
Yes Chris, that is the one. I had already seen this one, but £24.00 for a £3.00 seal!!!!!!
Surely they have got to be joking, which is why I was hoping someone knew the size.

I am reliably informed (on another forum) that these are the offending items.

PS ignore large seals in picture its a stock photo, measurements are correct so I'm told as not inclined to dismantle my bike to measure it!!

Hello,
Having measured mine in situ this is certainly in the parish, so I have ordered one.
Probably not essential to renew it but I believe that while rebuilding an engine it is wise to replace all seals, O-rings, bearings, and gaskets as a matter of course given the fairly low value - crankshaft bearings and seals excepted.
Thanks Chris, I am sure this is the one, don't know how Discount Bike Spares can justify £23.99 for theirs!!

Dean (Discountbikespares) is usually very good and competitive, I would suspect that this is a genuine Suzuki part at genuine Suzuki prices!! Its genuinely NOS as the part is no longer available from Suzuki themselves, depends how much value you attach to the Suzuki plastic bag.

+1 on the service Dean provides. One of my first choices for Suzy bits
