Hi
I need to replace the seals on my 750A but finding the usual initial problem of not being able to undo the bottom allen bolt as the inner tube is just rotating.
How do you hold the inner tube so that you can undo the bottom allen bolt?
Thanks
Andy

Re: Replacing fork oil seals on GT750A
Andy Hi, I think we've had this one before !
Seem to remember it was suggested to use a compressed air rattle gun, like what they use at a tyre service centre to undo the wheel nuts on cars,it's the initial shock /shake that gets things loose apparently

Thanks for the reply advice.
Yes it does seem that a rattle gun is the way to do it, but not having one I came up with an alternative way, see attached.
Tapping the sword in gave a sufficient key to old the damper tube and with an adjustable on the blade the screw freed, so job done.

I did mine without taking the forks apart using the old self tapper into the top of the seal and then pliers method.. worked treat.
But... i made the mistake of putting cheap pattern ones in from ebay and within 100 miles, they were peeing oil out. change them for genuine suzuki ones from Crookes and 15000 miles later there has been no issues.hope it goes well!

If you can replace the bolt easily enough, the quickest way is to just drill the head off it. 'Sounds a bit drastic but it really is very simple and easily done without marking the leg.

I tapered down a wooden broom handle put it down the tube and belted it home, it held it well enough to undo the cap screw.
For re-assembly I made something that fitted properly.

I hope your seals came/come out a bit easier than the one I was working on yesterday. 'Good idea to clean up the inside of the leg before fitting new ones.
