Uh oh !
SO I got the bike up and running, checked the timing (centre was out), and decided to take it for a little 5 mile run.
ON getting back, the whole right hand side of the bike is covered in (gearbox) oil, looking to be coming out of the oil pump housing.
Crank seal failure ?

Hi,as a rule yes, & does indicate a seal failure ! Have you recently changed gearbox oil,?

Re: Uh oh !
Don't panic Mr Mainwaring! I wouldnt jump to a conclusion on that just yet. .Drain the oil out, is it clean-ish or black and 'orrible? get the oil pump cover off and make sure the pump is properly fitted with the oil seal etc. Check all over for a gasket failure that might cause an oil leak. It is often something quite simple. Kevteebowbusablaster wrote:SO I got the bike up and running, checked the timing (centre was out), and decided to take it for a little 5 mile run.

Re: Uh oh !
Took the cover off, and the housing itself isn't FULL of oil, but the bike was absolutely plastered with the stuff.

Re: Uh oh !
Just take a breath and check everything externally very carefully. Is the oil that is coming out clean? It is possible the PO just overfilled it
