Re: Uh oh !
As a postscript, I was concerned that it was leaking gearbox oil over the garage floor, so this morning, decided to check the gearbox oil level by unscrewing the plug on the side. It ran out, steadily for 45 minutes. My suspicion is the techy put the prescribed 2200ml in, and his mate did the same, there was an AWFUL lot in. I went through 2 complete blue hand towel rolls soaking it up as it poured out.
Once at the correct level, my starter motor no longer seems to struggle turning the bike over !

Re: Uh oh !
For the cost of 2200ml of gearbox oil and a crush washer, that's exactly what is going to happen later today.

Re: Uh oh !
Just had a call from the repairer, someone phoned him to say I had been slagging him off. This is not the case.
All the repairs have been done, including welding up the broken crankcase, the shock mount etc, for a fair price.
He went over and above what was asked of him, and the bike (apart from a consistent oil leak) is running nicely, got 300 miles or so on it, and looking forward to a lot more this summer, when the weather improves.
I don't believe that I have named him in this thread, but if I di, I apologise, and would answer any questions regarding the service given.
