Holes in my tank

Post by Mickyg »

Hello, my painter has just informed me that my Kettle fuel tank has a couple of small hole in its base near the fuel tap. Has anyone used or can recommend a suitable sealer that will do the job. Thanks Mickyg

I would lead solder them, better than a tank sealer if there the only ones

Personally, it would be a new tank. It'll only get worse + the price of a paint job.

I've silver soldered pin holes in a couple of tanks. So long as you prep it properly it can work well. 8-)

I've also done this, but I would clean out the tank properly to get rid of any old fuel and fumes and I would be media blasting the area........it'll find any other potential holes. If it is too damaged I'd tig weld in a new section.....or find a donor tank :(

I do the same to seat bases that I've repaired, you just can't see potential holes with the naked eye. Seat below looked great(and was by some standards :D )
