Rectifier problem

Post by Optedout »

O.k. So finally completed the restoration of 750 B. Even have a firm front brake lever!
So it fires up straight away on the button, sounds good but after about 30 seconds
it’s not beautiful blue 2 stroke smoke that I smell but electrical burning and black
Smoke from under left side panel! Fuse blown and rectifier extremely hot.
Is it toast? Frame has been powder coated and engine rebuilt by Baz so it’s probably
something I’ve done. Any suggestions please? Cheers Dave

Give Baz a call, he'll know exactly what the problem is.
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" :x they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

Long story short guys, has anyone fitted an Electrex RR77 regulator/rectifier from
Discount bike spares? I would appreciate any suggestions please. I think that I get
it but the instructions seem to overcomplicate the whole thing. Thanks Dave

I have fitted a couple to different bikes. I don't recall anything complicated. Care to post the instructions and we can see if they can be translated into English

I've had one on my bike now for quite a few years and it's easy to fit, (from what I recall, a small mod to the mounting is reqd), and is fit and forget.
I've never had a moments trouble with it. My bike charges well and I can'r recommend them enough.

Thank you for the support gents. I am not confident with electrics but will crack on
with it now that there are no “watch for this” type warnings from guys with previous
experience. Cheers Dave
