The pipe is held on the valve with a metal sleeve clip. Slide off the clip then pull pipe off valve. Then unscrew valve with socket or ring spanner

Let's face it fellas, these bikes were designed to be used on a regular basis, not infrequently. Back in the day I used to just jump on the bike and ride it, never a thought for this sort of thing. It just went

Can't help but grin to myself when I read a post about someone being concerned that their 2T bike is smoking too much or oiling a plug. Back in the day (in our ignorance) we used to do things like increase the pump rate &/or add 2T to the tank to make them smoke more and the throttle was purely an on/off type arrangement
