Parts vendor USA.

Post by Skyguyz »

I live in the USA, (Ok, I'm a yank) so despite that......

I am having a hard time finding a descent parts vendor. I know "Partzillia" has some stuff and there is always "Flea-Bay" but E-Bay has a reputation of iffy and downright crappy stuff. I need to find a business that can at least have some OEM and some descent aftermarket parts for my 1975 M Series GT750. I googled the wiring harness, (part # 36610-31201) and came up with very few vendors and none that had that part, (Even in the aftermarket world.) I just finished getting a 1969 Kawasaki H1 museum bike running and had no problem getting OEM and aftermarket stuff. I think I am missing on something on a stateside vendor that I simple have not ran across despite my searching. I can buy from the UK and time is not an issue but with the many little and not so little parts needed the shipping would be a bit much.

Any help here would as always be appreciated.

Hi Sky, that is without doubt a thing of beauty, but a British bike in your house, what about the oil dripping on the carpet? :o
As for your spares problem, have you considered making a list of everything you need and then sourcing from one reputable dealer in the UK? I'm sure Baz on here could help you with that, or there's Crookes Suzuki who specialise in classic Suzuki parts.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Steve.
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" :x they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

I live in Canada (transplanted Brit :D ) and I agree that parts supply is a source of frustration. The other annoying thing is that Suzuki doesn't make available the same items in different countries. As a specific example, the GT750 water pump gear is not sold by Suzuki USA, but is sold by Suzuki Canada and by Suzuki in most other countries. I had to have Suzuki Canada reinstate the part number in their system for the 1972 J front brake shoes, front brake cables, rear grab rail and few other parts. Suzuki is always the first port of call though - it is sometimes surprising how much is still available. For many other parts the only decent sources I have found are Reiner in Germany, Volker (also in Germany) runs a very good web site at this link. Marcel in The Netherlands is also a good source. I have found that for whatever reason, it is usually cheaper to buy from mainland Europe than try to buy from sources in the UK - you have to check the current exchange rates when considering parts suppliers. Paul Miller in the US can be good for some things - actual NOS items. Be a bit careful though with any of the re-manufactured items. I list a few other sources on my web site - you are welcome to take a look. Good luck ! 8-)

It's worth remembering that we also have forum members who manufacture very desirable parts from stainless steel. Mark Read here https://classicbikefasteners.co.uk/
And also Astrax https://www.astrax.co.uk/bikes/WhatImDoingAtMoment.html

I want to say that Alan Tucker in Barbados and Florida rebuilds harnesses. No idea on pricing or availability.

How bad is your current harness? I may have a spare front or rear harness I could supply or rebuild. I'm near Chicago.
