Exhaust pipe repair

Post by Libblyloo »

Do any of the posters on here know of anyone who can split
One of my pipes, j model, knock the dents out and put back together. Stephen Smethurst was talking to someone who had had it done but he can’t remember the persons name. This was about 8 months ago. It really needs doing properly as it would be a sin to rechrome a less than perfect pipe, especially with the price I have been quoted for rechrome he.
Thanks in anticipation

The only fellow I know who has done that sort of work in the UK is Mark Read. You can read about it on my web site at this link. Tricky to do well, and it won't be cheap either regardless of who you have do it. Good luck ! 8-)

Not at all. We'd do it ourselves or just fit spannies.

Ashford chroming in Yate near Bristol. Won’t be cheap, won’t be quick but it will be
right! I used them for a grab rail from a Goldwing and they were brilliant.
He told me that they have done a lot of kettle exhausts including splitting them to
secure loose baffles.
Their website allows you to upload photos to assist with obtaining an accurate quote
before you commit.

Unfortunately I am of an age where expansion pipes are not an option! Lol
I am quite confident that I could dismantle the pipe, but welding it back together is a different story. I have had a quote to repair and rechrome, and it would be cheaper to get a divorce. But I am too far down the rebuild road now to pull out, paintwork getting done and exhausts?and good to go.Having had a new j model a long time ago, I have now realised that nostalgia doesn’t come cheap, but hey ho, onwards and upwards.

Phillip
