indicators not working

Post by mrjones »

hello everyone another electrical problem , riding my 750m yesterday I noticed the indicators were only working intermittently then after a few more miles they stopped altogether I came home and tried another flasher unit/relay still nothing , I checked the bulbs they were fine then I checked for power to and from the relay there was power going in but none coming out so you would think the relay was at fault but ive tried two other new ,not genuine, but admittedly untested relays and still nothing (bulbs not even lighting up) so do you think its the relay or something else? Is everything else electrical working ok? Horn/ lights etc. Sometimes if there are battery charging issues it can affect things like this. Kev

Check wiring between relay and handlebar switch for dirty/loose connections.

well I checked the circuit from the blue wire back to the switches all ok I gave the switches a good clean up changed the battery (the one fitted was only showing 11.37 volts) (I also have an exup which is the same battery size) out of 6 spare /old/unused relays that I have, only two registered anything the indicators came on but didn't flash with one of them the other (genuine but well used) the indicators came on but didn't flash but the relay clicked, my thinking is a new relay but genuine ones are silly money I think I will try a pattern part and see how it is.
