Re: gt when did you start ?
First rode a bike in 1971 age 14 - tiger cub 200. Lived on private land so never worried about L-plates, learner laws etc. 1st jap bike was a honda 50 in 1973, then a new honda CB125 in 1975. Passed test in Dec75, bought a GT380 in Sep76. Had something new every year for the next 10 years after that from either Suzuki, Kawasaki or Yamaha, then it was marriage mortgage kids - you know the drill !
Back to bikes in 1996 with an RD250 and another GT380 - both bought as projects in boxes - fixed, sold, wish now that I hadn't . Something in the workshop ever since, usually something to tinker/rebuild/take back to standard (won't say 'fully restore' 'cos I'm not into gleaming show ponies that never get ridden).
currently 6 bikes in the workshop (inc. 3 GT suzukis) with another suzuki arriving on wednesday - time to get the spanners ready !

Re: gt when did you start ?
When I was at school in the 60s and was asked what do you want to do when you leave, I always said "A Post Office motorbike delivery rider" (Can you remember those bright red BSA Bantams?)
That was my ambition in life (sad) but by the time I left school in 1966 the Post Office had stopped using them and sold them all off. Anyway I did get to ride an old banger 125 Bantam before that (illegally). Then it was onto a 197cc James Captain which was my first legal learner bike, passed my test on that and then onto a Triumph 500 Speedtwin, next a Cotton Conquest and then the obligatory break before going on to numerous Suzuki's, Kawasaki's, MZ's, Honda's, Yam's and a Harley, but many more Suzuki's than anything else.
Steve.

Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

Re: gt when did you start ?
How dare you, you cheeky young whippersnapper, I've never been so insulted in my whole life. (I know, I should get out more).
Anyway by 1860 I'd left school and could be found working up a chimney
I am hoping to see some of you lads again this year though, now as you said, I have a bit more time on my hands. I should be seeing Baz soon to collect some parts, so maybe we can arrange a meet then, but I don't think it'll be until things warm up a bit, because at my age you must understand how much my old bones feel the cold
Cheers, Steve.

Re: gt when did you start ?
Well I started at age 11 in 1965 riding old BSA Bantams, James, Dots & Francis Barnets etc around the fields st home. I used to hide them in the hedge at the end of the lanes as mum & dad didn’t approve of bikes my paper round used to pay for petrol topped up by what I could syphon from neighbours cars (yes I know )
First on the road legal bike at 16 was a 1963 Honda C92 Dream 3635 FM where are you now? followed by a lovely CB175 Honda in gold & white. I then went through a Brit bike phase with a 650 Triton a BSA A50 among others. I then bought my only new bike a 1972 T250J Suzuki Hustler which was a stunning bike. A Honda CB160 a CB77 then a Dunstall GT750 followed which was the most uncomfortable bike on the planet and I hated it! In between those I had two MZ250 super 5’s one of which was stolen, three Honda 70’s a Kawasaki 250 S1 a Honda CB900 f2 a Suzuki GSXR1100 which was the best bike I’ve ever owned bar none a Kawasaki Z1300 (I should never have sold that one) a Suzuki RGV250 race bike (stunning) two Suzuki GT500’s a Suzuki TR500 race bike a Suzuki GT750J which I never gelled with and my current bikes a Suzuki T500 which I’m restoring and my 1100 Suzuki Katana. I’m currently in negotiations to buy a late model none ram air Suzuki GT250 and I’ve probably forgotten a few too.
