clock restoration

Post by johnbno1 »

Has anyone had any clocks restored in this country as I need a pretty fast turn around I really only need a quick clean up and swap a dial face over but I'm not sure about getting the needle off etc so I would rather not try it myself if I can avoid it

Get the needle off with 2 teaspoons - carefully. It's the gubbins inside you have to be gentle with.

Get a pipe clamp that fits round the ring and pick it with a small screwdriver, the clamp will keep the shape of the ring, when you are rebuilding it a bit of pipe the right diameter with a slot cut out for the trip meter and a g clamp to compress it when rebuilding there is a youtube video for a Honda 750 which is very similar also I used paint from my work that is used for safety showers to do the needle and the red line.
