Hi here in New South Wales (Australia) we have a Log Book Scheme for Historic Vehicles under trial for 2 years....
Now in its 3rd year
We still need an inspection done every year, by an inspection station or a Club Examiner

The so called LOG Book is a piece of A4 Copy Paper which we have to fill in & carry with us at all times  You can imagine how it looks after a year stuffed inside you wallet !!!
Also the number plate cannot be read by Police Rego Technology to see if it's current,so we must display a current Registration Label on the bike to prove its registered :!: Damm Governments same through out the World I'm sad too say ‼️‼️‼️
Cheers.

How does this apply to older imported vehicles. It says that they do not need an MOT after the 40th anniversary of being registered NOT manufactured date.Mine was manufactured in 1973 but registered in this country in 2010.??????????????????.Rick

Here's the latest & most simplified version I've seen on the subject - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot- ... 0-may-2018
Just to add that I called the DVLA as my bike's MOT (already registered as Historic) runs out tomorrow/10th May to ask what the score was and they said if the bike will be used on the road between the 10th & the 21st it'd need to be MOT'd. If not SORN it and then reapply from the 21st onward for the free tax and there'll be declaration you'll make annually to say your bike is in/will be kept in a roadworthy condition for the MOT exemption.

So as I see it my T500 which is 1974 and whose mot expired this April and as such is now sorned - after the 21st of this month I can apply to re-tax it,fill in a declaration that it's roadworthy and Bob's your uncle ! It sounds too easy ! there must be a catch ;)

The catch is having to go to a Post Office (which I hate) rather than doing it online, other than that no catch - it is what a lot of us will be doing on 21st!

Post Offices are very handy and should be supported. Doing everything 'online' does people out of jobs, and 'online' is a pain when it cocks up. Note TSB/Natwest and others.

Also check with your insurance company, some are saying tbat no MOT could affect a claim.
