Tax Mot .?

Post by timmo »

So the bike is 1976 model. So what happens about Mot this year and then do I need to apply for historic non tax or will it all marry up ?

If not already done, SORN the bike so it isn't taxed

https://www.gov.uk/make-a-sorn

Print one of these off

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-from-mot

Fill it out stating option "r"

Take with your V5 to the post office and tell them you want to tax it as a historic vehicle

They will take the V5 off you and send it off. You will eventually get a new V5 with the bike registered as a historic vehicle.

They only want sight of the MOT exemption document and will give it you back.

You can ride your bike straight away.

Job done. I have done four of my bikes now with no hassle.

No. Don't wait for a tax reminder. Sorn the bike and go to the post office to retax it straight away. You get a refund of what's left of the tax. You should have done this in April!
