My battery has died and I’m thinking of replacing it with a Motobatt. Now I know some people have had problems with these when they don’t use their bikes regularly (ME) but I really like the idea of the extra oomph these batteries give and also the low maintenance needed. I’ve heard you can overcome these problems by using an optimate but as my garage doesn’t have any power I’m stuffed. However!!
I’ve had a bit of a brainstorm (very painful ) What do you think of one of these solar chargers? I could screw it in to the garage roof and have the battery on charge when I’m not using the bike would it be powerful enough to keep it topped up or will it fry the battery if I left it connected for weeks at a time? Your thought please.

Re: Advice please!
I had a moto batt on my shelf for 18 months never lost a bit of power. I think you only need to charge it if there are things like dash clocks etc. I've had moto batt for 3 years on both bikes. Never had to charge either!

Re: Advice please!
I've converted all my bikes to Motobatt and they all keep their charge for months without needing much attention. I always give them an hour on the Optimate before I plan to use the bike and that's it.

Had two of the moto batt types and wouldn't get a 3rd. Overpriced just get a standard battery does perfectly good job especially if you hibernate bikes. You can generally get 2 std types per 1 moto batt

Re: Advice please!
Cheaper option is to disconnect +ve of the battery if you're not going to use the bike for ages.
Solar chargers don't work at night btw, and will have to be on the outside of the shed roof to be any good at all.
Probably won't work where you live anyway unless you hold a candle near it.
