newtronic or accent ignition?

Post by wardy »

Hi guys, I'm going to treat my a model over winter to an electronic ignition set up. ( sorry Baz!)
I've discounted the boyer bransden as it is a converted kawasaki triple unit and not made for the gt750.
I'd be interested to hear from owners that have either the accent or newtronic systems fitted as to the ease of fitting, reliability and why they chose their system.also, could anyone tell me where to get them from.
I've done quite a bit of interweb research on this but am very interested in peoples opinions.
cheers everyone

The Accent one I fitted to my GT750 has worked faultlessly and was easy to fit. I think the o my way you can buy it is direct from the chap who designed and makes them?

I have had Newtronic fitted to my 550 for nearly 20 years. Easy to fit and works perfectly still. I had some issues with a lamp cable 5 years ago and they replaced it free of charge! Really is fit and forget . I take off the points cover and check it with a timing lamp every year but it never needs adjusting.. The difference between it and Accent is with the Newronics there is a small control box which I put under the saddle on the mudguard. Get the Newtronic in the UK here

Points. Because they work and always get you home even if one set fails.

Hi,Accent fitted to my GT750A model going on five years ago
Has never missed a beat, Easy to fit, electrics plug straight in.Very cost effective with the cost of OEM points being so expensive, I check tbe timing every now & then, always OK
Fitted Motobatt battery at the same time, recomended over lead acid types
Cheers.

That's easy. Accent all the way. Easier to fit and superb manufacturing. Newtronics - not so much.
