The difference between prose and poetry.

Post by Alan H »

There was a young feller named Lee,
Worked for Atkins and Rollicks,
Went for a walk in the sea,
And the water came up to his thighs.

That's prose, but a few inches more as the tide comes in, and it will be poetry.

I’ve never really been into poetry,
It’s about as interesting as going the lavatory,
But when riding my bike like Billy from Fife,
I should get there eventually.

Ta da.

There was an old man from Yorkshire
Who was always taking the p*ss on the forum
One day whilst in Oban and drinking some Jura
A shark came along a joined him

He got such a fright he ran through the night
And he was never seen again around Oban.

No puff at all. Gryffindor is my home.

Same as Thebes at Wath Grammar, colourwise coincidentally - or not.
I was in that house at age 11, coincidentally - or not.
K'inell, Harry Potter is me!
Magic!!! 8-)

One wouldn't usually drink Jura in Oban, one would drink the local distillation - from the Oban distillery or even Ledaig from Tobermory in Mull.
Jura of course is a small island next to Islay (pronounced 'Ela') - renowned for very peaty whiskies. I've visited several of them - Caol Isla and Laphroaig are my favourites, but Bunnahabhain, Lagavulin (White Horse Distillery), Bruichladdich, Ardbeg and Bowmore are some of my other preferences too.
I visited Islay a few years ago during Fais Ile - whisky festival week - and somehow survived the very nice experience easily.

I was in Oban again last year with several mates on another scuba diving holiday.
Oh, by the way, I'm a 30 year member of the British Sub-Aqua Club, Chairman of my local Scuba club, senior instructor and boat handling instructor should you wish to try and extract the wee out of that as well..........

Oh, and I'm also a Jura Diurach - look it up. :|
