Interesting fact about carb rubbers

Post by barney01 »

Bought some new carb rubbers for my 550J as the old ones were 5 years old and even when clamped as tight as I could, they rotated when turned.
When the new ones arrived I compared the two and was a little surprised that the old ones had stretched as apposed to shrinking. The rubber facing the cylinder head had perished and cracked as expected

Did you get sorted with the carb to barrel rubbers Barney. I've found a boxful of the buggers! All used btw, so no-one expect new 'uns.

I'm sure someone mentioned carb rubbers recently, but couldn't find the post, then I remembered - you have a guilty look, so I thought I'd ask!!
