I know it's more expensive in the UK, but a 10 cents a litre rise overnight is a bit hard to take for 98 premium Fuel.
We haven't had a refinery in Sydney for years,
all our petrol comes in from Singapore...
If something goes wrong with the supply chain Sydney only has 3 to 4 days before "" running dry"

Re: Petrol Costs
Well, the robbing b*st*rds here charge 15p a litre more for diesel than for unleaded even though it's far cheaper to make! They encouraged everyone to go diesel then called them all environmental vandals and started picking their pockets

Still using LPG too at about 55p/litre as against £1.20ish for petrol and another 10p/litre for premium petrol.
No idea haar much tractor fuel is, as I've only ever had petrol (or 2 stroke) cars, and petrol or 2 stroke bikes. I never believed the idiots in gubmint when they were telling us that 'tractors good, petrol bad'! Unlike so many gullible folks that did believe them.
3+ years since I had the last works tractor powered van.

Re: Petrol Costs
Diesel is better in as much as it is more energy dense (more power) and it can stand much higher compression. Both allow the motor to make more power and in turn to get much better mileage per gallon. It has other detrimental pollution issues with particulates, but that's a whole other story.
LPG is still common in the UK but not so much in OZ where the government decided they didn't need any of that nasty dirty manufacturing going on, so they cut the subsidies. LPG at gas stations (servos) is still available in VIC at least.
LPG is less polluting than gasoline but less energy dense and of course needs a huge great steel tank taking up space. My brother runs his Range Rover on LPG and claims it's much cheaper that petrol.
