On the 2 balance pipe coupling thingies, (L model?) there is an external rad at each end, Does it seat in anything or is it just for looking pretty. Or is a sealant of some sort used...
Presumably the two external grooves are for O rings...

Re: Exhaust coupling question
Hi Widget
I recently re-fitted the original pipes back on my 550 and used clear silicone around those rads new "O" rings on and cramped the balance pipes up
Back in the day Suzuki offered a sealant do do the job refer to the works manual and it does state it.
Generally though "O"rings are good enough.

Re: Exhaust coupling question
First of all look at this post for info
http://www.kettleclinic.co.uk/kcforum/v ... it=O+rings
As Dave says Suzuki supplied a sealant for that rad. I think you can still get it. BUT on the above post from Alan those O rings are a little bigger than OEM but when pulled together with a ratchet nothing gets past and are easily separated if you have to take it apart.
This is the sealant strip

Re: Exhaust coupling question
Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated..
The reason I asked is am am making some out of stainless and the two I have as patterns are slightly different, so I was wondering if that rad actually does anything ..
