GT550 sealed beam headlamp replacement

Post by barney01 »

So I have long been wanting to improve the headlamp performance so this is what I have done.
Bought a 7" classic glass domed headlamp without a sidelight
Bought a high intensity H4 bulb that is very bright.
Fitted both today excellent result.
The new lamp she'll is 2" less deep so more room in the bowl and if you have ever taken the lamp out you will know that benefit
I still have the original unit if I need it.

Externally dry, but managed a snifter or two last night - just to help me sleep, of course.

Plenty of 7" headlights about - just look up 'Series LandRover', 'Defender' or other 60s/70s/80s cars.

Is there an H4 bulb holder included that plugs into the existing two pin or what needs to be done to the wiring? I have a gt380

A modern H4 plugs into the 550 bulb holder no problems.

That is very different to mine. I think you have two choices. If you are competent enough solder a new socket on to take the 3 pin bulb (cheap enough Ebay)

or buy this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GT-38 ... Sw~epZggOg
Which will replace the holder you have
