WEEP FROM OIL TANK GLASS.

Post by wardy »

Morning gents!
Just noticed last night that I have a VERY slight weep of oil from the sight glass on the side of the kettle's oil tank. so slight in fact that it could have been like it for a long time.
Does anyone know how these sight glasses are held in the tank and whether they have an o ring on or something?
I presume that because on the outside of the glass it has a hex on it, it is screwed in, but with almost a full tank of oil in it, I don't want to crack it trying to turn it and have a
massive oil slick on the floor to clean up!
cheers everyone... shame it's raining today; I was looking forward to a ride this afternoon.
Absolutely peeing it down in Scunthorpe just now.

BTW I agree with you any attempt to tighten it up would just end up with a flood of oil :o
