I've been doing some research on the history of "tightarsedness" in the UK and have come up with some interesting facts.
1). The Scots and the Yorkies are both well renowned for being "careful" with their cash.
2). The Scots have good reason to be careful, because generally speaking they haven't got a lot left after the weekly booze bill.
3). The Yorkies on the other hand have got a lot more cash, but for some reason don't like to be separated from it.
4). Not all Yorkies are equally tight-fisted, those along the east coast and the border of Lincolnshire are more likely to splash the cash.
5). However the further west you travel in Yorkshire, the tighter the grip gets on the wad (wads) of money.
Where exactly do you live in Yorkieland Alan?
Somebody's going blingy.

Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

Google it. Although spelling's another of Steve's weak points.....stevewharton wrote: And exactly how far west is Wombwell.
Although the name's a bit of a pointer - SOUTH Yorkshire, not West Yorkshire.
As it should be.I can just see Alan having the local poor peasants flogged for stealing a crust of bread. :

Probably. We in the old 'West Riding' were considered the most generous area, and still are - despite making us 'suvners of the norf'.
