AW Motorcycles in Doncaster.
The chain was 116 links but I have a chain splitter, but I fitted a split link as I haven't got a chain joiner. Never had issues with split links, but 70hp shouln't hurt one.
DID X ring chain £70, front sprocket £6, rear sprocket £23.
Chain length is 104 and it was a 14 front so just swapped like for like. 3500rpm = 60mph on the satnag.

Yes to the chain, no to the washer as I just replaced like for like.

As mentioned in the 'What a week so far' thread HERE, the hippo chucked the teddy out of the cot again on the way to Mike Y's on Monday. It's run almost 2000 miles since Baz did the last one (which did 500 miles) without leaking and I rode from home to the Brampton Hut services next to Huntingdon (about 114 miles) mostly between 4000 and 5500 rpm (you work it out!) and it was running well. Just pulled off the A1 and dropped onto 2 pots, I thought it was reserve time, so twisted the tap and carried onto the services and brimmed the tank. 125.6 miles and 12.61 litres of fuel so near enough 45mpg. Unfortunately, when I restarted, the bike shat itself and spat coolant out of the vent.
Oh bother (or similar) I thought, and phoned the AA taxi service for poorly bikes.

Whipped the head off today and the leak is on the centre pot to gallery this time. I checked compression some time ago and it was 150psi on each so maybe it's the compression (or the top deck of the barrels?) that's not happy. Baz has said he'll sort it, probably with a spacer under the barrels and see if the barrel top face needs skimming. We shall see.

Now don't think for even one second that I blame Baz or Phil for the issues that I've had with the bike, I'm just lucky like that I think.
With the best will in the world, these issues couldn't have been foreseen and Baz's bikeshed is coming up trumps with sorting the issues out - and I did ask him to use the spare barrels that I got as spares when I bought the bike anyway, so it's probably my fault. It usually is.
To show my faith in him, he's doing stuff for the GT550J that I've started to resto, and if I thought he was anything other than genuine, that wouldn't be happening, now would it?

Feckin' kettles.

The Hippo has a 'new' set of barrels - 'A' this time, and not decked so the pressure is now down to 120psi from the previous 150psi.
Difference seems to be less vibration, easier starting, less surging, slightly cooler running and the engine seems 'happier'.
Only done a few miles, so the test will come later this week on the rally.
Not much difference in power, but only using 4000rpm max as it's a slight running in situation again.
In the meantime, there's a new addition to the Suzuki family - a GSX 1400 which is parked in the garage with the Earwig and the Hippo.
Let's see how they get on, and hopefully no falling out overnight!

Fairly quick.
2000rpm in top = about 40mph and it goes to 9000.

Doesn't the Zimmer frame affect the aerodynamics?
