Oily Watery Mix !!!

Post by Roger Ackery »

Hi, what's causing this watery sludge in left hand top pipe ? All the others are bone dry....
Seems a condensation problem with that cylinder OR has it blown a head gasket ?
Bike running fine other wise !!
Scooped out the gunk. Lots of it !!!
See Photo !!!

I think that's probably 'other interests' that causes that sort of thing.
Leave them alone and spend more time riding the bike.
Proof that four strokes are over complicated

hi Alan, thanks for the reply, your probably right   a damm good thrashing required ''on the ''bike'' the goo builds up over time and splatters the side of the rear guard & number plate at highway speeds. At the moment I'm lucky to do more than 20km a day  in suburbia, more freeway work & see what happens with the sludge :tw
Cheers.

Roger,
Is there a drain hole for that pipe? if so, is it blocked? I recall the large pipes on the 550 at least have baffle holding plates with a groove at 6 o'clock for water draining internally along the centre welded channel and out to a drain hole. The grooves and hole easily block and then you have watery nastiness in your pipe!
Worth a look anyway,
Mike

:tw Hi Mike,Delkevic Pipes..will look for hole, will drill my own if I can't see one ;)
Messy sludge.I can't believe how much I scooped out....Really don't won't another episode of a blocked exhaust like last year
The baffle was carbon free, just wet & runny :?:
