550 J carb problem solved

Post by barney01 »

So my bikes engine normally runs well, but a week ago i started to get a rattle noise from the right cylinder under load or acceleration. So i pulled the plugs and the problem cylinder was running very lean (white deposits on the electrode) so all the carb rubbers appeared in good condition and passed the 'easy start' test sprayed around the joints.
Next i lifted the offending carb throttle valve out cleaned everything and when i went to re insert the valve i saw the problem which is deffo a new one on me! The pin in the carb body was in the process of working itself out and was nearly there! Hence in operation the throttle valve was turning making the air/fuel mixture very weak.
A little thread lock so it wont happen again and the pin tapped back in place. Test ride and its back to normal.
