1970 Suzuki T250-II Carb Float Height Adjustment

Post by Syd »

Hello,

Does anyone know how to check and set the carb float height with a carb bowl that has two (2) independent floats like on my 70 Suzuki T250-II - see the attached photo. I have never struck this design before. My parts manual for the T250-II shows these floats on each carb bowl, but I don't have a height measurement method for the floats. Does anyone have an owner's manual with that spec in it and any other info that can be used for this? Thanks

The two documents that will give you information on this are -
VM tuning manual - Mikuni
Suzuki Service Bulletin 6-9 - Ozebook
I have tried to upload and post but it will not work, but you can access them yourself on the internet.

The Service Bulletin only goes back to 1971 but it shows you how to measure the float distance ( I think the B and C indication is the wrong way round)
The VM manual also shows how to set the 'Individual Float Type carb' with distances for different size carbs
Hope this helps

Thanks Paul, very helpful indeed.

I also found some good info at https://thexscafedotcom.files.wordpress ... -carbs.pdf - see page 31, however the carbs on the Suz T250 are Mikuni VM24 and this size is not shown, just from VM26 and up to VM44

I wouldn't think there would be any difference in the float measurement between the VM 24 and VM 26 carbs.
I would set them at 14mm between the the float bowl flange and the float arm and see how it runs.
All the best
