Thanks for that, have already done all the float bowls with emery paper, could be that the actual carb body surface is not 100%. I'll try 2 gaskets together

Re: Good Petrol Resistant Carb Gasket Sealer?
Two gaskets should not be needed and never use gasket goo of any type. The question is why are they leaking and are you sure it's from the float bowl joint face? If fuel level is too high, a carb will weep out of the bellmouth and that usually looks like the float bowl leaking.
Bowls distort and bow when they are tightened down too hard and it is possible that the carb body has distorted. You might try coating the bowl face with something like bearing blue and gingerly bolt the float bowl in place. Then remove it and look at the carb body mating surface to see if it has pressed the blue out evenly or if it's still shiny and clean in some spots.
That way, any distortion should be evident.

Can we have less of the mating surfaces talk please. There are people on here that may take offence, or be too thick to understand how carb parts can cohabit.

All makes sense here in NZ which is where hobbits come from...also good suggestion about checking the carb body and bowl faces.

I always grease my gaskets and let them stand over night before fitting.
