GT550 expansions and alloys..

Post by Puddlehopper »

I am trying to expand my knowledge of what was available for the 550s. I spotted this uniquely styled specimen on eBay recently sporting alloys and what the owner described as Gibson/Allspeeds.
I'm not normally a big fan of alloys on earlier bikes, but I had a pair on my 380 BITD. I'm also keen to own a pair of expansion chambers for my 550A, and if Allspeed made pipes for the 550s, then it's another avenue for me to explore on my search.

Best regards, Gary.

You'll need more than a pair of spannies on a 550, or it will be very noisy.
Have a search for my 'Earwig' thread for spanny and ally wheels.......

Now if you'd done a proper intro and told us (approximately) where you live, it might be that you're close enough to come and have a look (at the bike, he hastily adds).

Simon, although our Alan is a bit of an old (as in prehistoric) dinosaur he’s alright really and if your into 550 Suzuki’s he is THE man and it’s worth getting in his good books. It’s definitely worth a look at his earwig if your in the locality as it really is very nice although DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES tell him I said that ;)
They're rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!
A quote from my old dad 8-)

I tried to upload an image to the site but was only given the option of linking to a photo hosting site - the picture didn't appear, just the word IMAGE. I'll post the eBay URL below and see what happens.
Alan was kind enough to tell me about his exhausts, and they would be my first choice if I lived anywhere near Mick. I'm willing to put up with the zero power increase and hearing loss that comes with Higgspeeds - but if Allspeeds were made for the 550 (as suggested in the ad) they would also be a good option.

Regards, Gary.

You can upload a pic directly from your computer/phone/whatever/ 8-)
When you've done your reply or started a thread, look at the bottom left of the white 'square' that you've been typing in, and there's a bit labelled 'attachments'. Click on that, then 'add files'.
Another window opens which shows the directories on your computer. Just find where the one containing your pic is and upload from wherever it's stashed, or if you previously use widoze exploder and find the sub directory where the pic is BEFORE you post, then single click on the pic(s), then with left mouse button (or pad button) pressed, drag'n' drop onto the post window and they sort themselves out.
S'easy innit? :ugeek:
