gr550 master cylinder

Post by quark77 »

fitted new brake hoses to the 550 , fitted a " re sealed " original k master cylinder and it wouldn t pump any fluid at all ! re - fitted the later type cylinder that the bike came with ( it was working well with a goodridge line ) whilst that does pump fluid i can t get any pressure on the lever .sometimes it spurts out under great pressure ( plenty of air too ) most of the time it is just a trickle ! doing my head in

Bleed the master cylinder first by loosening the pipe union and pumping the lever until fluid comes out - put a rag around it to stop the fluid going everywhere- I always use the silicone fluid now as it doesn't harm the paint etc.- the system will bleed easily then .One other point - make sure that the tiny bleed hole in the bottom of the cylinder is clear .
