odd one this , wheels and tyres both correct , but when on mainstand i can t turn back wheel as both wheels are firmly on the ground ! can t lean on back to free up front wheel either -- wro g mainstand fitted ?

Could be wear on the mainstand feet or mounting points or both, or as you say the wrong stand fitted.
Could be wrong or worn out rear shocks fitted, or could be wrong profile tyre/tyres fitted.
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" :x they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

cheers steve , just checked ( the brand new and look right ) shocks on it and they are too long ! previous guy fitted them , because they looked spot on standard never occurred to me , oh well 300mil standard ones ordered :o

If it causes an issue, either get some half inch shorter rear shocks, or just slacken top and bottom top yoke bolts off and let the fork legs protrude half an inch at the top. (Then tighten yokes up!)

Or a new/repaired stand.
