Tyres, GT250A

Post by 63Scammell »

I am currently rebuilding a 1976 GT250A. According to the manual and parts list the front tyre should be 3.00 x 18 and the rear 3.25 x 18. There is a fair choice of front tyres but a 3.25 rear is hen's teeth, unless you want a far eastern no name. On the other hand, with a 3.50 x 18 there's lots of choice! Does anyone have personal experience of whether there are any clearance issues running a 3.50 x 18 rear? What about running metric sizes, 90/90 front, 100/90 rear? Any thoughts anyone?

Just put a 3.25 on the back of an RD250 Metzler do them - got it from M&P - tidy tyres with a good tread pattern I tend to avoid metric sizes if I can - dont know if you will have the clearance to put a bigger tyre on there though

Thanks Malky,
I just checked out M&P and ordered a pair of Metzelers.
