The only 'string' on my bikes is the electric stuff with copper down the middle.
The fairing is one I bought for a good price (natch!). No idea what it's off and alloy brackets to headlight ears and 'normal' mirror mounts.
And nowt wrong wi' tyraps for tidying cables.

Have been using an ultrasonic cleaner, but they end up a bit dull looking, and the buzzing is making me fillings drop out !

That's easy. Don't put yer teeth in the ultrasonic cleaner.
Suzuki carbs do look a bit dull after ultrasonic-ing, but you can tumble them in beads to brighten them, or even lightly spray them metallic silver very thinly, then laquer over if it really annoys you..

I did mine in my blast cabinet using soda as the medium (glass beads block everything up!)
Then I put them in the ultrasonic cleaner and any soda left in will dissolve ;)
