Bike frame currently hung up from the garage rafters so I can get the swing arm on, fitted the forks and no axle clamps, so had a scrounge and found some, polished 'em, fitted with SS nuts, washers etc. and looked nice, but........

Bugger, fitted some K fork legs which Baz had polished and fitted new seals to.
Not a lot of good for a 4LS wheel, but fortunately the proper forks were on the bench - unpolished and unserviced of course. So 'just' need cleaning, seals (got some) and a pair of new circlips (need some). Don't you just love these old bikes?

At least the weather is a bit warmer so I can get in the garage and get on with it now.

Got the other forks polished as they needed more work than the less powerful polisher on my bench was able to do.
Came back stripped and just needing new oil seals (and remantling), So to ebay I looked and some on there were sized at 35mm x 46mm x 10.5mm. I measured the fork legs and noted they were 33mm.
WTF?!?!
On further checking, they are 380J forks, so fortunately Uncle Baz has (we hope) got my original ones which somehow got mixed up.
No, I don't know why I should have some 380J forks either, but I'll get some seals fitted and ebay the bleeders!
Looks like a visit to brumland this week then.
Why does nothing go straightforward anymore.......

Signs of progress at last - this bike is fighting against resurrection all the way!
Started to fit the new inner rear mudguard that I got off Kev - that's when you find how different the early /late bits are. Anyone need a new late model inner rear guard?
Anyway, found the original and cleaned it a bit then left it soaking n soapy water to get the ingrained in crap off - To be resumed!
Got the battery box and found that was different. On further investigation, it may be a 380 one as it's for a smaller battery.
Where the 'ell, did all the 380 bits come from?
Looked in 'Box 1' and got the proper battery box and some other stuff and fitted them - after finding there was a seized stud in one of the rear indicator threaded holes - only 2 hours to pop/drill/drill/drill/tap/hit/swear/drill/finally clear.
The bike is now a rolling chassis and at least it can be in and outed from the garage - after I get the Hippo and Bronto out of the way.
As I've now got the dud brickwork on the garage front sorted and new spreader plates to carry the 5x3 metre awning powder coated, they can be mounted and then I can get bikes out in shelter while I work in the garage.
Here's a pic of the roller with the tank. Looks ace in the sunshine - the metalflake looks super. Kev did really good.
