Sorted the barrels out yesterday.
Removed the 12 cylinder head studs easily with the 'Steve & Paul' method (double nut for those who didn't work it out), so the reborer man can do his work, then sorted out the pistons so he can bore to the exact sizes. Parcel to go on Monday, so whistle see when it gets back. Pity about the 'current situation' as I'd have nipped them over and called at Paul's for a look at the 500 on the way back.
I thought I had a spare new wiring harness for the J as the original is very 'stressed', but mebbe it got fitted to the Earwig, so I'll have to look for another. An early 380 one looks the similar and is £30 more economical. Except for the lack of a wire to an electric start of course.....
Ah well, more tribulations no doubt. Anybody got a 550J harness they don't need to save me a lot of hassle?

Re: The Yeti
Take that to be a 'no' then. Nemind, it'll be sorted one way or t'other. Should get the rebored barrels back next week after their holiday in Chester, and then the remantling can recommence.

Got the rebored barrels back today. Fast service and they look very nice. I'll get them in the parts washer later and might even get them on the engine later still!
Busy busy with two bikes on the go at one time, I'll have to see if I can get this one running again this month.

Re: The Yeti
Couldn't find the SRIS adaptors that go under each crankcase - of course they are different on the J models and push in, and all the others have a 8mm thread.
However I have a set of spare late ones and a lathe!! Before After
So when I get back in the garage, I'll have some freshly chilled modified SRIS thingys that will tap in the holes and be held there by interference fit plus Loctite.
