Hi
Been looking for a GT550 for while to restore and picked one up on Saturday. Really excited about this as I had a 1976 A model years ago and have always regretted selling it.
I have a whole pile of questions and stuff to work out, which is a massive part of the fun for me.
The bike isn’t registered (USA) import in 2005 I have been told by po. I have no paperwork so can anyone give me tips on registering It?
It was advertised as a 1976, but looking on old jap bikes for reference using the frame number which begins with a 4 I think it’s an L or M model. It’s amazing the the detail differences between models and markets. It doesn’t really matter to me, I’m just so happy to own one again.
I’m in Essex and I have restored a few cars so I can do most stuff myself, so will post up images as I go if that’s ok. Regarding Specialist stuff, I will happily be guided by the mass of experience on this forum, so thanks in advance.
Cheers
Allan

Hi Allan,
Welcome to the forum. We have a few GT550 enthusiasts on the forum who should be able to help out. When you say you have no paperwork does that include the NOVA paperwork.

Hi
Welcome to the forum. Another 550 so a certain Yorkshireman will be pleased!
Super important you have the HMRC declaration from the importer confirming all import duties have been paid. Here is mine as an example.
I think if it came into the UK in 2005 you won't have a NOVA number as they didn't exist then.
If that's all good then a few folk on here have registered imports so can talk you through the process, a lot easier now you don't need an MOT!

Oh wow, another Allan - even if he's obviously a rich suvner, as his parents could afford 2 'l's!!!
Hopefully you have SOME paperwork from the original importer - can't remember the form number or get a receipt from the last owner, then call the VAT people and they'll help.
I know parts of Essex too - my last company 's UK head office was in Loughton, and both my 550s were from Billericay.
Welcome to the madhouse by the way. Use the search facility (top left of the screen, 3 horizontal lines) and there's lots of info easily available there for starters.
