Here you can post a picture of you and your bike. Also where you are located and if you are prepared to give local kettle owners some of your time and experience. Please don't do discussions here just some facts about yourself. This was Glens idea! Thanks BAZ

Morning all,

Hello from a new member! My name is Dave and I'm based near Canterbury. I've just joined the forum as I have recently developed a bit of a hankering for a Suzuki triple. The first 'big' bike I ever went on when I was 16 and riding a fizzy was the back of my big brothers mates GT380 in about 1978 which was one of the later models in red and looked beautiful. He took me out down the local bypass and stupidly I hadn't done my helmet strap up and with no visor and him caning I,t I had to hold onto the rear grab rail with one hand and my helmet chin guard with the other to stop it lifting off my head! The digital gear indicator was a real marvel at the time and I guess ever since I've had an affection for them.

Now in my mid 50's with a bit of disposable income, I'm thinking of taking the plunge and buying one (as is my brother!) - hence I came across this forum and thought it would be a good idea to find out a bit more about them first. The forum looks like a real good resource and looking forward to spending some time here and maybe even taking the plunge - thanks.

Nice intro! We do appreciate folks who take the time to do one.
Welcome to the madhouse, hopefully you'l carry on being a sensible chap and get yourself a nice air cooled triple so that you can keep up with the big boys except on bendy roads where you'll just pull away!
Proof that four strokes are over complicated

Hi Dave,
I'm sure Mike will be along soon - he lives near Canterbury and has a beautiful collection of all the Suzy triples. I also live in Kent but nearer to Maidstone and only have a fairly ratty GT750. It's my favourite of the Suzy triples for no other reason than I just love the way the water cooled engine looks and it was an icon (IMHO) when I was a 17 year old. I also have a Honda CBX for a similar reason...
I've reached the age where I don't really want to go that fast any more (although I do have a Fireblade too!) so the bikes I choose to own aren't necessarily that great at anything, I like them for different reasons.

Thanks for the welcome chaps - seems like a real friendly site! I was up in Brum earlier this week and called into to look at Baz's GT550 - what a cracker it is - he's done a lovely job on it (sorry Baz I haven't come back to you yet but I still cant send a PM as I haven't enough posts!). He mentioned Mike in Kent and when things calm down a little I'll probably get in touch with him.

I currently have an 1150GS and an old CR500 crosser which needs some work on the engine but I really do fancy a Suzuki triple at some point before I'm too old to enjoy it and am leaning towards a 550 as I can't afford a kettle and I'm not sure a 380 will be man enough to haul my bulk around!

Hi Dave,
Welcome also. Yes, I live just west of Canterbury and you're most welcome to pop over (in a car is fine, its what I usually do, unless its sunny & preferably warm too!) and share a cuppa and a chat. Please do. I'm pretty much retired (medical) at 57 so can get a bit bored. I'll even lift the covers off my triples - they take time but are very rewarding things to own.
Cheers!
Mike
