Hah! been restoring my wife's grandfather's old Record Auto-vice. Beautifully made piece. Nearly done. I won't be refinishing it in its original red, as I prefer silver. Note the stamping and casting. How things have changed since he trained as an engineer after the war.

Its one like this - only mine was silver...until I stripped the paint and found a very adherent manly pink underneath.
The swivel function is very nice, as is the tiny anvil on the back.

Record no 34 from harland & Wolff and a baby paramo

This post has got me restoring my vice. It was in my house when I moved in, and was covered in white gloss paint. I have been chipping off the white paint trying to leave the original paint. I was going to strip and repaint but seems a shame to loose the patina.

Russian made in 1976 by the looks of it

That's a cracker! It will work for years to come,mines 100 yrs old? I think?(was told by a 90yr old man who worked in harland and Wolff and acquired /took it as a retirement plan,
