Changing engine numbers

Post by canaletto5 »

Has anyone got any experience of changing engine numbers on their log books? I need to update one of mine prior to selling it but the DVLA website say you need evidence like a receipt from a garage for the new engine.. As if! I bought my casing off ebay a while back to replace a broken unit. Are the DVLA strict about it? Kev

I changed the number on the green GT550 that I recently sold after noticing that the DVLA had swapped a couple of numbers on the V5 Kev.
I just changed the number on the V5 and sent it in. Came back all done.
Engine numbers don't matter if they're the same type as previous.
Or 'do you need a receipt'. I need a chat and may pop down this week.
