Starter Clutch

Post by nathern »

Hi
I have a rattle coming from the points area (electronic ignition fitted) it seems to be from the back of the points area, could this be the starter clutch?
I have taken the points housing off and replaced the nylon water pump gear and checked all the nuts/bolts etc.
Would it be a straight forward job?

Hi,does this noise only happen at very low idle speed ? Like just before stalling ?
If so its nothing to worry about, all GT750's do it,sounds nasty but all is ok ;)
Cheers,
Roger

Hi thanks for the reply.
No it's constant which is why I suspect the starter clutch I believe it can wear.

I had a rattle like that (though only at slow idle). Changed all the starter gear bearings etc. Still rattles :-)

Imagine it's a lesser bike and keep blipping the throttle.
Proof that four strokes are over complicated
