I use Millers classic 20/50 in mine with no problems. DO NOT use modern synthetic oils or you may well end up with clutch slip/drag problems.

You’re ok to use modern synthetic oil as long as it says JASO MA on the can. Suzuki did recommend 20W 50 oil but I know some members will be using 20W 40 or even 10W 40.

Stick with the recommended and you’ll be fine.

Don't use the full sympathetic stuff in a 70s bike, they don't like it.

Hi, Castrol and Motul both do a gearbox oil designed for two stroke motorcycles, I have used both for many years & found them to be very good, nice smooth gear changes, no clutch drag when cold, no clutch slipping, I do change the oil regularly around 5,000kms ;)

I like the Motul mineral oil. Its specifically made for two strokes with wet clutches. It's a 10w 30 so a bit thinner than 20w 50. Good when cold, no clutch drag. I change every year, though it still looks new when changed. I order online from M&P or Busters, free delivery if bought via their eBay outlet.
