Rectifier?

As you will guess from my last topic I am venturing into
the electrics which seem to have taken the brunt of the
previous owners abuse.

I fitted the support panel for the Rectifier/Regulator etc. to check
the clearance with side panels ( building a special with modded GS1000 ones)
Everything fitted ok, so I decided while they were on the bench to give them
a clean the various units. Took the rectifier of and started cleaning the
30 years of grime off and revealed bare wires connecting the rectifier together.

So my question is, is this correct.

Does it work? Paint it and leave it alone.
Also make a 2.0 or 2.5 mm2 black multistrand cable between the battery -ve and earth, rectifier mount, start relay mount, indicator relay mount and anything else that needs an earth in that area. If the wires are carefully cut to length with crimped ring 6mm ends on and heat shrink to make the ends neat, it looks almost OEM.

Alan’s rectumfier wouldn’t work, too many wirery things hanging out of the bottom. Wouldn’t know which one to connect. even if you got the connections right it would probably just backfire all the time and cause the bike to stall. You’d probably end up getting rear ended

It's too technical for you to understand Martin. Butt out.
And Mr. Canneloni is ok with painty stuff. 'Nuff said about the pair of 'em.
