That's funny, the aerosol can that I got from RS,has a label on it that reads,,,COB SUZUKI 10401 CANDY GOLD,,,,

This was a few years ago,but a different code to your more recent one,,,,strange ??

I may have sourced a NOS side panel in Candy Gold no 4. If i get it & all else fails it would be something to match the paint to.
'Trouble with NOS panels is that some have sat on shelves for ages and they can fade, you get the rest matched up and could find it's the wrong colour ......and if you get the rest painted in the right number paint, it won't always match.

I've used RS paint before with no problems.
redliner wrote:"Having looked up RS's web site & spoke to them they don't sell this colour"

hmm.. that's an issue .. I'm sat here looking at a parcel despatched from RS Paints on 29.07.2015 - it contains (amongst other items) a 400ml aerosol can of Candy Gold 15372 which I was assured is the correct match for Suzuki Candy Gold no.4 (288).
I have bought the panel & it's in the post. I will wait & see what it's like & take it to my painter to see if there is a colour on his system that's close or matches.

There is a few inconsistencies with RS. take the colour they list for a 72j GT550 & a 74 GT380L they have the same paint listed. I know for certain that they are 2 different colours the 550 is definitely gold & & the gt380 l is yellow!

The same for the GT750 L & A models RS list Flake Orange no 2 for both years! When a L model is flake orange & a A model is flake orange no2 again 2 different colours.

So I wouldn't believe everything thing they list as correct.

A friend a few years ago ordered paint for his yam xj550 a bike he has owned since new. The paint he got from RS was nothing like what it should have been, instead of a candy cardinal red he got a red muddy clay colour!

Yes I think the gt380 a was called candy gold no 5, a darker candy gold more like a bronze gold

Did it sound like the person you spoke to at RS knew what they were talking about?

Yes I emailed them First & then Phoned a few days later. Here is the email I sent & the reply I received :-

I am restoring a 1976 Suzuki GT750 A model & would like to repaint it to an original colour. The colour is called Candy Gold No4. I cannot find this colour listed on your web site & was wondering if you had this colour ? Many thanks Russell

the reply I received :-

Hi Russell

Thank you for your message. I'm sorry to say this is a colour we don't have.

However, we can make it for you if you have a part of the bike in the original colour that you can lend to us for a few days.

There's no additional charge for making a colour from scratch & of course we will return anything you send in, together with you paint.

If you can send a part, please mark for my attention

Many Thanks,
Phil

Now I know why so many A models are painted Blue!

Have you read this? (long post halfway down). They're talking about a blue colour but it looks like matching up your NOS panel's probably the way to go ;)
