Historic tax
Hi all - have our wonderful government changed the rules again ? My kettle was registered in march 1976 so I was looking forward to free tax this year after April - just looked on the gov website and now it says that historic tax only applies to vehicles registered before Jan 8th 1976 the site was updated in march 2017 - what is going on ? Mal.

Re: Historic tax
I think it rolls on another year in April. I've made enquiries at my local post office ( which issues VED ) and my bike, which shows as being used / registered in 1976 ( American Import ), should be eligible for Historic tax from April 1st.

Correct. That's more or less what Richard and I tell everyone every year.

They don't seem to make it very clear though almost as if it's done deliberately

Re: Historic tax
Well took my V5c and associated paperwork ( just in case ) to the old PO and hey presto receipt issued for £0 and now taxed as Historic.
Hopefully the new V5c will drop through the letter box in a couple of weeks

Re: Historic tax
Registered mine for "historic" on the 1st April with no problems, just changed the tax class on the V5, signed and dated it and handed it over. The lady at the post office told me the DVLA update their website on the 1st April each year to include all newly qualifying vehicles.
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".
