Re: Project X
Bit more progress today.
The benelli back end has twin fans so I wanted to fit a temp controlled fan speed controller to go with the electric water pump.
Davis Craig do a good setup so I just had to shoe horn that in!
Eventually I will have the pump controlled by the computer as well but for now I will just let it run on power up.
In the quest to hide stuff I wanted to loose the starter solenoid so without a normal starter motor now I have room in the old starter tray. The hydraulic clutch line also runs nicely through the tray so all good.

Re: Project X
So basically having hot wired it enough to run (pending computer)....
It is good to van up to the seat manufacturer!
Was hoping to fire it up last night but the new Electrex ignition has taken a dump and isnt outputting enough self generating volts to fire the CDI's..... Oh well just another minor blip....

Re: Project X
it's looking real good Kev - will have to arrange a meet-up when they are both completed and swap notes..............

Re: Project X
Great idea Gary.
Once I can sort the b~~***y CDI it should start.
In the downltime I have been looking at the electronics again....managed to get the speedo and rev counter going. I wanted a kinda retro 70's electronics look.
So this pair is the left hand Clock. RH has wter temp, fuel, and a small OLED with 'other' stuff.
Should be able to loose the excess gubbins somewhere
Gear indicator in a separate clock. The clock cluster is off a 1200 bandit and the centre temp gauge is the new gear indicator. More later.....

Gary
I was going to do a separate post when I have all the 'facts' but basically.
I bought a kit for the RH side from Electrex.
Set it up and no spark on kick. Lots of very slow backwards and forwards comms from then then finally. 'Oh it wont start on a kick you need rollers'.
OK, not mentioned in the promo stuff. Now they are not interested in helping...….
Then I started digging.
The kit uses a HPI (Belgium) stator, rotor and coils and the electrex CDI.
Nice man in Belgium, talked me through various tests.
Problem 1. Electrex also do the back plate for the stator and its wrong as the stator/rotor faces should be flush and they are 4mm out so not much auto generated voltage. Fixed that now it outputs at 35v. Still no spark.
Problem 2. Nice man in Belgium said 'send it to me to test', ive got people that says it starts with a kick with my CDI'. Sent the unit to nice Belgian man who said ' Don't like the CDI's it wont work well/at all with my stator/rotor'.
So right now I am waiting for the nice Belgian man to tell me if his CDI's will work or I have to buy another version he has which isn't self generating. Either way I don't care, just need it running. The wife is starting to think it's a waste of money!.....Women....Cant' live with em can't shoot em (not in Dorset anyway)

Re: Project X
Interesting - and annoying for you - no mention of needing rollers to start the bike in the blurb on their website.
Think I will buy a non-self generating kit from HPI (after I have talked with them!)

Stick to proper points, all this electrofaffery will never catch on.
