Cheers Alan.
I am talking to my porting guy monday for the final design so see what he thinks. I dont really want to raise the CR as far as I can see .....yet.....

Think I worked out why the Torqsoft program might be out.

It cant take into account piston dome volume from the input available or head gasket volume.

I will do the calcs mandrolically and post that. Still strange the inner and outer volumes are different though?

Thanks again.

While I am waiting for the barrels, I thought I would get to grips with the back end.

I wanted a radical look with an underseat radiator, so firing up the old memory I remembered a benelli that had one!. The Tre900 Tornado.

Quick Google and yes it looks SEXY! So how to graft that on to the hybrid?

Well I am starting with this.......
IMG_1632.JPG
And trying to add these and the radiator that fits inside a nice plastic carrier........
IMG_1631.JPG
So the bottom arms of the subframe pretty much fits with a few minor tweaks and having hacksawed the top arms off I can make 2 new brackets and weld them on...

IMG_1634.JPG
This was the test assembly with the subframe top arms not cut but I should get this 'look'......
IMG_1629.JPG
and the rad is pretty much invisible and when she is all painted up the back should look like this.......

So I've just started to look at a squish head design. The plan is to make a Skull Cap where the whole head section on each cylinder can be removed and refitted with one with different squish dimensions to gauge performance change.

I had a chat with Ian last weekend and now plan to do an O ringed replaceable skull cap if I can get O rings (probably Viton) to work at that temp.
Hi Kev
I plan to have a play over the Christmas break, 3.5" diameter ally bar for the skull caps shown in the photo, was part of the order that arrived today :D
Have 3 spare heads, will let you know how I get on.

Brilliant buddy. My barrels are due back in January so it is heads next. Do you know what squish/MSV you will plan for?

Think I've worked out the clutch.

Honda RS250, the old two stroke GP racer. Bits are as rare as rocking horse s**t but I found an assembly in a shed in California so happy days.

Just stripped out a GT primary to make with it. Now all I have to do is get a clutch cover scanned so I can work out the hole centres and outline to make the new dry clutch cover.

Keep me posted.

Cheers

Porting being cut as I type is;

Zero deck
Obviously have to insert a 3mm lifter plate to be able to cut enough metal.

Measurements from deck.
Exhaust open 33.5mm - exhaust bottom 64mm. Width 50mm
Transfer open 49mm - transfer bottom 64mm. Width 38mm
Inlets top 77.5mm - inlet bottom 110mm. Width standard (25mm ish)
Boost port open 50.5mm/118.85 deg - boost bottom to break into inlet. width not sure yet due to water jacket but not too critical. Yes this is the tricky bit adding the boost port as this now a reed valve engine!

Pistons are also modified to make the boost ports work.

So timing should be;
Inlet 183.6 degrees
Exhaust 188.87 degrees
Transfers 129.11 degrees
Blowdown 29.88 degrees

Still planning on peak power at about 7500rpm.

The dyno will tell!!

Will post pics when it all comes in.

Hi Kev

This is my initial design, MSV TBA Richard gave a design last year when I was on holiday in the US, which I based this on as much as I could as I didn't have all the dimensions, but if you have a better design, it can be modified
Skull_Caps_v4.jpg
But also created this as a CAD file :D

Thanks

I hope you didn't turn down my fork brace to make those Ian. :?
And those holes in the bra things will never get a fork leg through them........
Did Madonna's bustier maker do the cad drawings btw?
Proof that four strokes are over complicated

Looks the dogs mate. Be interested to see how the head machining goes. Might need to drop round for a brew sometime for a chat if you are up for it.

Have you got the case profile as a DXF?

My honda clutch is winging it way to me now so I can move on the engine again.... :D

This is the bike I stole it from......
